Weekend travellers and early morning shoppers came face-to-face with the undead this weekend an army of Zombies invaded Leeds train station.
The army of darkness travelled to Leeds from across the Northern Rail network to enjoy a special horror movie celebration called Day of the Dead – being staged as part of the Leeds International Film Festival.
As leading partners of the film festival, Northern, was keen to join in the terrifying tongue-in-cheek fun and laid on a special zombie make-up counter at the railway station to transform film buffs, shoppers and commuters into gruesome, brain-eating zombies.
The free make-overs saw people young and old transformed into the living dead – sporting pale ghoulish complexions, gruesome wounds, scabby-faces and must-have zombie scars.
Day of the Dead III is just one event held as part of the Leeds International Film Festival which runs until 22 November and also features new films from the Cohen Brothers (The Serious Man) and Jane Campion (Bright Star).
The festival has attracted stars including author Jon Ronson – author of ‘The Men Who Stare at Goats’ (which has also been screened at the festival) and comedian Julian Barratt of the Mighty Boosh.
Heidi Mottram, Managing Director of Northern, said: “It’s absolutely great that we have been able to get involved with the Leeds International Film Festival, and have fun with our passengers.
“Everyone who turned up really got into the spirit of the event and hopefully the army of the undead seen stalking Leeds Station hasn’t left anyone feeling too shaken!”
