Laying cobbles along the tram route in Manchester city centre
Manchester Metrolink today gave passengers a second fare holiday as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for putting up with disruption during the city’s recent £22m upgrade of tram tracks and stops. Passengers also travelled for free last Saturday and today’s move was to coincide with yesterday’s opening of Manchester’s Christmas markets.
The Metrolink section around the city centre closed in April and opened again earlier this month. It is hoped that new trams will enter service in the next few months.
Metrolink ensured that all available staff were on duty to assist passengers during this time of heavy demand.
