The go ahead for a station at Surrey Canal Road, on the Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction East London Line extension, is expected by the end of the year. The news follows discussions between Transport for London, Department for Transport and Lewisham Council.

The new station will help serve the expected 10,000 new homes that are to be built across North Lewisham and which will be within walking distance of the new station.

It is estimated that the station will be used by 1.3 million passengers a year.
