February 2, 2010

The Great Central Railway, which runs between Loughborough and Leicester, is to invest £175,000 in refurbishing 6 carriages into a Pullman style train. Due to a generous donor, the funding is already in place and work has started on 3 of the carriages, with the entire rake due to enter service within 12 months. The first of the carriages should enter service this summer.

Bill Ford, GCR president, said “The whole train will have an exciting and exclusive ambience”

With the commissioning of Swithland signal box, which is expected to open soon, the GCR will have the capacity to run 2 dining trains at once.
